André Costa

Emídio André Costa is one of the most talented clarinetists of his generation at just 22 years old. He is currently attending a master's degree in performance at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Genève in the class of Professor Romain Guyot.

He finished his degree at the Superior National Academy of Orchestra – Metropolitana with Professor Nuno Silva.

 

Won several first prizes in national and international competitions:

2018- IV APC International Clarinet Competition ed. António Saiote
2017- XII International Competition Terras de La Salette
2017- Classic Summer Festival CCB
2016- VI APC ClarMeetPorto'16 National Competition
2011 and 2013 - International Competition “Art and Education in the XXI century” – Funchal

 

It also won second prize at the Valiant Competition – Murten Classics Festival in Switzerland.

 

He played solo with several young and professional orchestras such as the Madeira Classical Orchestra, the Beiras Filarmonia Orchestra or the Kurpfälzisches Kammerorchestrer Mannheim.

He worked with several teachers such as Arno Piters, Juan Ferrer, Olivier Patey, Eddy Vanoosthuyse, Mariano Rey, Yehuda Gilad, Pascal Moraguès, Philippe Berrod, among others.

 

He collaborated several times with the Orquestra Clássica da Madeira and the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa.

He was a member, for two years in a row, of EGO – Gulbenkian Stage for Orchestra.

 

He worked with conductors such as Martin Andre, Cesário Costa, Pedro Neves, Joana Carneiro, Jean Marc Burfin, Michael Zoom, among many others.
